Today I say goodbye to my temporary home in Pittsburgh.
I have spent this week working in our firm’s Pittsburgh office and have really enjoyed it. The people here are really nice and it was good to be able to help a new attorney set up his practice.
Oh Hilton Garden Inn – you were so good to me.
My temporary home for this week was the Hilton Garden Inn on Market Square in downtown Pittsburgh. So close to food … so bad, and yet so good!
I may have actually gotten in a little exercise this week.
I parked Penelope in the hotel parking garage on Sunday and I hadn’t seen her again until this morning when I checked out of my room and took my luggage out to her. She will make sure I get home safely this afternoon on my drive home.
What’s on tap for the weekend?
Well, I get to see my dogs, who I’ve missed a whole bunch. And my nieces and my mom, of course.
Friday – obviously I’ll be driving Penelope home for 3 – 4 hours this afternoon.
Saturday is St. Patty’s day – so Luck o’ the Irish to everyone!
Sunday – emptying out my suitcase and doing laundry! Oh boy!
Hello Ladies and Gentlemen!
Yes, I have been a slacker on this blog, but I promise to try to do better in the future.
So, what’s happening this weekend?
Well, a lot, actually. I’m going to be working out of our Firm’s Pittsburgh office next week, so I will need to leave sometime Sunday afternoon to drive over and check into my hotel. I’m looking forward to the get-away. I love to travel – even if it’s for work, so I can’t wait. I’ll miss my dogs, but it will be nice to have the entire bed to myself without two dogs and a cat wallowing all over me all night long.
Creative things …
I’m working on more www.chriscaffery.com cancer bracelets and other guitar and violin string projects.
Oh, and the Lenovo Yoga 2-in-1 tablet/laptop thingie that I ordered is supposed to arrive today, so I’ll be taking that with me. I can’t wait to start messing around with the drawing and painting programs on there.
I’ve also started to learn to watercolor paint.
So far it has been a huge disaster, but I’m taking my watercolor stuff with me and hope to catch several YouTube tutorials in my downtime at my hotel.
Tomorrow I will be visiting my Mom, since I won’t be able to visit her Sunday like normal. And Tammy is spending the night, so who knows what that will entail.
Oh, and, the cabin for my 3-day “Disconnect from Society” weekend is booked and I am SO looking forward to that in two weeks!
No real plans for this weekend, which is the way I like it!
I’ll be finishing up some cancer bracelet orders for www.chriscaffery.com.
Chris Caffery – Trans-Siberian Orchestra
I also have a Chris Caffery guitar string and guitar pick bracelet design I’m working on; and, a new design for a violist and her violin strings…more on that soon.
Other than that, I’ll probably be playing around with my mixed media art journal, doing some laundry, maybe clean the house (but don’t hold your breath), and visiting my Mom on Sunday afternoon, as always.
I’ll get Kelsey out on the road for some more driving practice. Penelope takes good care of her when she’s in the driver’s seat.
What’s on tap?
Not a whole lot. It’s snowy and cold outside, and well – I just don’t function very well when it’s under 75 degrees outside.
I am working on a few craft projects:
I’m finishing up a New Baby Boy Mini Album commissioned by a lady I met in November. Here are a couple pictures of some of the pages. I will post a complete review of the finished album.
I’m also working on a jewelry order.
One of my musician friends – Mr. Chris Caffery of Trans-Siberian Orchestra – saves all his guitar strings from the TSO tours and then I make bracelets out of them. He then sells them on his website. Check them out in his web store here … www.chriscaffery.com.
And I’ve been playing around with an art journal.
I have never done mixed media before, and certainly not water color, so it is a very steep learning curve for me. I have thrown away 98% of the pages, but here are a couple I’ve kept. I will be doodling around in this journal some more if I have time.
Other than that … I also have some laundry to do – which I probably won’t do. And I’ll visit my Mom!
So, Finally Fridayis going to be a regular series here on Six Months @ A Time.
On Finally Friday, we will share what is on tap for the weekend!
So this Sunday – January 28 – is my 54th birthday!
My birthday weekend is actually STARTING on Friday this week because I am taking Friday off of work:
1) because Friday is my Mom’s 95th birthday, so I plan to spend some of the morning with her; and
2) to spend Friday night in Cincinnati with my friend Bridgette. We are going to dinner and then to see the new Star Wars movie (yes, I know – I’m late).
Saturday I will be driving home from Cincinnati in the morning and then going with Kelsey to her tattoo appointment in the afternoon. She has booked a half-day appointment (3 hours) so if there is any time left, Carmelo said he’d do some more ink on me! WOO HOO potential birthday ink!
On Sunday – my actual birthday – Tammy, Tracey, Kelsey and I are going to see Jeff Dunham at The Schottenstein Center! I hope he brings Achmed and Walter! My two favs!
